Hakkasan launches wine delivery service

High-end contemporary Cantonese restaurant Hakkasan has launched a direct to consumer wine delivery service in the UK in a collaboration with Slerp.

Following on from the restaurant’s food delivery service, Hakkasan at Home, which launched during the first lockdown in March, Wine by Hakkasan is said to be the first nationwide wine delivery service from a UK Michelin-starred restaurant.

Long looked after by Hakkasan’s head of wine, Christine Parkinson, who left the restaurant group last September, Hakkasan’s wine lists have been praised for their inventiveness and scope, with Parkinson championing sake and being one of the first wine buyers to really get behind the low and no movement.

Among the wines on offer for delivery are Yalumba Virgilius Viognier 2017 from the Eden Valley; Domaine Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc 2014; Torres Mas La Plana 2015; Tabali Maray Reserva Carmenère 2018; and Louis Roederer Brut Premier.

In addition to individual bottles, customers can also purchase mixed cases of whites, reds, or a combination of both, with no limit on the amount ordered.

Among the cases on offer are the ‘Ultimate Burgundy’ collection, featuring top whites from the region, and a ‘Curious Vines’ case full of quirky Italian reds. Hakkasan was founded in 2001 by restaurateur Alan Yao, who also founded popular Japanese chain restaurant Wagamama.
